If you know abut the issues then don't get mad at him, because he has no way of knowing if you are aware. He just saw something that he felt needed improving and tried to help you fix it, and you got mad at him
what you could do is get flashlights and tape them on the walls of your studio. then whenever you're gonna record flick them all on BOOM free lighting with batteries... and tape maybe even crazy glue or wires.
I'm not subbed to Nin, but I recommend his channel on my YouTube because he's a good friend and we kinda know each other (through Skype I mean). I know he's just starting out and I am too. I respect him, but Nin. If you need help with your vids, ask me okay? Even though I might not know a whole lot about setting up a video, I do know how to make a video channel work it's charms even if you don't have a lot to use.

Honestly nin, I was just giving you a pointer. You don't have to be a jerk about it. Even if your basement doesn't have a light switch, you could use something as simple as a bright desk lamp for lighting. It doesn't have to be fancy. Just position it behind the camera so it lights your face, that's what I did for my first few vids.
I wasn't trying to be a jerk. That's whats confusing about the internet, its almost impossible to tell a person's tone. I swear, and i apologize that i came across that way. I will try harder to word better in the future
Now that I reread this, I see where I went wrong I'd suggest going ahead and pirating the software if you can't afford it. I do it, and it works amazingly because I can use things like screenflow, after effects, and sony vegas. Screenflow has support for a tobuscus-style facecam if you want that kind of thing, but I believe it's only for mac. Go ahead and pirate fraps if that's the case, because I'm too lazy to check xD
I already have Fraps and Camtasia Studio. Im set on recording things. And i didn't pirate them (arrr me maties) the only issues i have is mic quality and face cam quality.
